On May 18, 2024, during the Cannes Film Festival, a pitching of projects from Central Asian countries took place, organized with the support of CNC and the Embassy of France. 53 projects from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were submitted for participation. Scripts open for co-production with France and other countries were considered.
The CNC selection committee chose 8 projects for presentation to French producers in Cannes. After the presentations, personal meetings were organized to discuss the terms of cooperation. International funds, interested producers and film festival selectors were also invited to the event.
Films from Central Asia attract attention with their authenticity and attractive shooting locations. Every year they are included in the programs of international film festivals and acquired by distributors around the world.
At the Marché du Film, CNC signed memorandums of cooperation with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan aimed at developing official co-production agreements, which is an important step in establishing stable partnerships.
